Pop culture lovers will unite at the Western Fair District this weekend as London Comic Con returns to the city.
The event kicks off Friday afternoon in the Progress Building.
Last year, about 7,500 people streamed through the rows of exhibitors and met with celebrity guests.
Some of the high profile people scheduled to take part this year include Kevin Sorbo, Levar Burton, and Emily Kinney of the Walking Dead.
“The best way to see one of our celebrity guests is when you come in, they’re all sitting at tables, you can just come on up, literally, they’re so friendly and welcoming, just walk on up to the table, you can say ‘hello,’ you can purchase an autograph from them, or of course get that special selfie with them that you can show on social media, make all your friends jealous, it’s literally that easy to meet our special guests,” said Organizer Andrew Kitt.
In addition to dozens of vendors, there will be prize giveaways and a cosplay competition.
“We give $1000 cash to the overall winner,” Kitt said. “According to our research, that’s the biggest prize offering in all of Canada. It draws in some great costume makers from the area and even a few from a little bit outside of Ontario came last year, so we’re hoping to see them again too.”
The festivities kick off at 4p.m. Friday afternoon. It’ll run until 9p.m. and then all day Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets can be purchased at the door, and kids 12 and under with a paying adult are free.
