There could be some big changes coming throughout the Thames Valley District School Board.
According to the London Free Press, community groups have been notified that 14 schools will be subject to “pupil accommodation reviews.”
Basically, there will be discussions about closing some schools and changing the boundaries on others.
In London, Tweedsmuir and Fairmont could be affected.
The current proposal involves closing Fairmont, and building a new school at Summerside.
At this time, none of these options are set in stone. A vote will take place in November followed by a public participation meeting, and a final decision is expected by next May.
Meanwhile, London Trustee Ruth Tisdale was elected Chair of the Board Tuesday night.
Director of Education Laura Elliott made the annoucement.
“I would like to acknowledge the letter resignation from Trustee McKinnon from the position of Chairperson effective September 19th, 2016 to focus on family and personal matters,” Elliott said. “I declare Trustee Tisdale elected to the office of Chairperson of the board effective immediately for the period ending 2016 November 30th.”
Trustee Bill McKinnon will remain as one of two trustees for Oxford County.
