Union Gas confirmed Tuesday morning they’re working to stop a gas leak near the intersection of Commissioners Road and Topping Lane.
It happened in area of 405 Commissioners Road West sometime around 10:30a.m. as construction crews were conducting road work in the area.
“Right now, Union Gas crews are on site, we’re working to secure the area by stopping the flow of natural gas through that damaged pipeline,” said Andrea Stass with Union Gas.
Police and fire crews are making their way to the area, though it’s not clear whether any road closures will be put in place.
“This is an evolving situation so some of the details have yet to be determined,” said Stass. “We’re working to determine if gas service to the area customers will be interuppted, it’s typical that we do that so that we can safely repair the damaged pipeline.”
After the leak is resolved, an investigation will be launched to determine exactly what happened.
