The Hyde Park Business Association has a pricey request for the Planning and Environment Committee on Monday.
A letter from the association’s president asks councillors to sign off on $50,000 for the group so it can begin the process of turning into a Business Improvement Area.
The cash would be used to help cover start-up costs until tax levies are brought in to cover things like office space and salaries for staff.
The association says as a BIA it could work with businesses in projects that bring the community together, help businesses to be sustainable while strengthening the local economy.
Monday’s Planning and Environment Committee meeting begins at 4p.m.
