Londoners will come together this weekend to remember a Canadian icon and help his dream of defeating cancer live on.
The London edition of the Terry Fox Run is set for 10 a.m. Sunday morning at Springbank Gardens with 2km, 5km and 10km routes. Registration runs from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Anyone who wants to participate in Sunday’s event need only show up at Springbank Gardens and register. There’s no entry fee and no minimum donation is required.
Last year’s race raised $120-thousand for the Marathon of Hope, according to Pete Ferguson, a Terry Fox Run London Organizing Committee Member.
“The city of London — between our run, the University’s run, and the school runs — raise to the order of $300-thosuand a year, which fulfills Terry Fox’s dream of a dollar raised per Canadian,” Ferguson said.
The fully-paved course is bicycle, stroller, rollerblade, and wheelchair accessible.
Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope has raised more than $650-million for cancer research nationwide.
