Airshow London organizers have cancelled Saturday’s event due to severe thunderstorms expected to enter the area by early afternoon.
All show tickets for Saturday will be honoured for Sunday’s performance.
Chair of Airshow London Jim Graham says the decision was heartbreaking for their team, “Mother Nature has been difficult to predict, but there’s a high chance of severe thunderstorms and lighting, so for the safety of our patrons, volunteers and air crews we had to make the difficult decision.”
Showers and thunderstorms are far from the forecast for Sunday, with a mix of sun and cloud, so Graham hopes people will be able to make it out tomorrow.
“We’re expecting tremendous weather for tomorrow, it’s going to be a fantastic show. We want to be able to display these great aircraft and crews and put on the performance that London is expecting. We’re going to do our best to accommodate everyone that wanted to make it to Saturday’s show.”
“We’ve got some of the best meteorologists, Military and civilian folks in the airline and aerospace industry that have been helping us make the decision,” Graham said. “It wasn’t something we took lightly.”
Ticket holders who are not able to attend Sunday are asked to hold on to their tickets as they will be honoured in 2017.
