The parent company of Golf Town, which has a location in the northwest end of London, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
Golfsmith International Holdings, which is based in Austin, owns and operates 55 Golf Town locations in Canada as well as 109 stores in the U.S.
The golf retailer claims on it’s website to be the largest specialty golf retailer in the world.
According to a statement from the company, part of the reorganization plans include selling Golf Town Canada to a group led by Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.
An employee with the Golf Town location here in London at 1250 Fanshawe Park Road West says it will remain open, at least for the foreseeable future.
The Golf Town agreement is expected to close at the end of October.
The company claims Golf Town and Golfsmith operations will continue uninterrupted during the Chapter 11 proceedings.
