Disgraced former Western Hockey League coach Graham James has been granted full parole by the National Parole Board.
James is serving a federal sentence for sexually assaulting players he coached in the late 1980s and early ’90s with the Swift Current Broncos.
The decision was handed down Thursday following a hearing at a federal penitentiary in Laval.
Former NHLer Sheldon Kennedy was abused by James. He tweeted his support for the victims after learning James had been granted full parole.

James will now serve the remainder of his sentence in the community, but can’t communicate with his victims or their families, and cannot be in a position of trust with minors.
