A decision on whether to reopen Ekcoe Central Public School in Glencoe could be made early this week.
Officials sent out a news release on Friday saying air quality testing will be done after early evidence of mould was found inside the school, and samples were taken.
Remediation will also include the removal and replacement of all ceiling tiles throughout the school and part of the ventilation system.
Public School students had a delayed start to their year, but started attending temporary classes set up at nearby Glencoe District High School on Friday.
“Students were excited to finally begin classes today,” said Ekcoe Central Principal Jennifer Richards.
“The way parents have supported teachers from both schools to create a welcoming learning environment for our students is a wonderful reflection of community spirit in Glencoe.”
Students will continue to attend classes at the alternate school until Ekcoe Central is deemed safe.
