A request to publicly detail gender pay equity at London City Hall will be put forward Tuesday afternoon.
Ward 3 Councillor Mo Salih will bring forward the proposal during the Corporate Services Committee meeting.
Salih says he wants to make sure women and men are paid the same, in accordance to provincial legislation the requires public sector employers to achieve pay equity in the work place.
In a letter addressed to the committee, he stated, “It is important the Municipal Council is aware of what processes and practices the City of London has in place to meet this requirement.”
Salih has requested the Civic Administration provide a report at a future meeting that outlines what processes and practices are in place to ensure female employees are paid the same as their male counterparts.
Absenteeism will also be up for discussion at Tuesday’s meeting.
Since last year’s strike, the City’s inside workers have taken close to 20 per cent more sick days than the year before.
The Corporate Services Committee meeting starts at 12 p.m. at City Hall.
