As families prepare for the return of school this week and settle into new daily routines leading into the fall, hot and humid weather is set to return.
Environment Canada issued a heat warning Monday afternoon for most of southern Ontario, including London.
Temperatures are forecast to climb into the low 30’s on Tuesday and again Wednesday with humidex values reaching 40 to 42.
There will be a few regions as well where the high temperatures and humidex values will continue into Thursday.
Weather officials are out with a reminder that extreme heat can put everyone at risk from heat illnesses.
They recommend drinking plenty of liquids especially water before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration.
As well, frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.
Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
Meanwhile, there is relief in the longer-term forecast.
According to Environment Canada, we should see temperatures below 30 degrees starting on Friday.
