No one was injured after a fire at a high-rise apartment building in northeast London.
London Police and the London Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 6 p.m. Thursday at 1134 Adelaide St. North.
Residents at the scene told AM980 flames could be seen coming out of the unit’s balcony door.
“The fire alarm went off so we gathered my child and my mom and we went outside,” said Shelby. “There was black smoke and the balcony was melting.”

The blaze was contained to a single unit on the 7th floor and was extinguished quickly. The apartment was empty at the time of the fire, according to investigators.
“Just waiting right now for them to air out the 7th floor and the 8th floor from this fire and then we’ll go in with the platoon chief to look into that and investigate further to identify the source,” said Staff Sgt. Trish McIntyre.
A damage estimate has not yet been determined.
McIntyre says it may have been a cooking fire but an official cause has not yet been determined.
