Ward 14 in London will be without official representation for an indefinite period.
Councillor Jared Zaifman has been off the job for three months while he deals with health issues, and has been given an indefinite extension by London City Council.
Council voted Tuesday night to save his seat despite having the option to force him to vacate, prompting a potential byelection.
Zaifman had asked for an exemption. It’s not clear how long he will be away.
Ward 6 Councillor Phil Squire and Ward 7 Councillor Josh Morgan have both helped to cover for Zaifman in Ward 14 while he has been away.
