Londoners will have another chance to celebrate this year’s Memorial Cup Champions as the London Knights parade through the downtown Thursday afternoon.
Starting at 2 p.m., the team will make its way from City Hall to Budweiser Gardens for the Memorial Cup Championship Rings Parade.
“We won together, and that was probably the closest group I’ve been with for a long, long time,” said London Knight Owen MacDonald.
“Everything we did, we did together, and it’s going to be pretty cool to be back with all the guys for a couple days and celebrate.”
The parade route, which is expected to take around an hour, starts at City Hall on Dufferin Ave., heads south on Wellington St., west on Queens Ave., then south on Ridout St. to Budweiser Gardens.
MacDonald said he’s looking forward to seeing all the fans again before the next season begins.
“To celebrate the cup with them, it feels pretty good,” said MacDonald.
“They really supported us, and just look how many fans went out to Red Deer and watched us play, it was really incredible.”
Following the parade, the London Knights will be presented with their Championship rings and will be available to sign autographs from 3 to 4 p.m.
Fans are then invited to join the team for the annual awards ceremony inside Budweiser Gardens from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
