Three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries and a horse died following a collision between a car and a horse drawn buggy in Perth County.
OPP say the buggy was travelling north on the east gravel shoulder of Perth Road 121 north of Millbank shortly after 5 p.m. Monday when it was struck from behind by a car.
Investigators say the back of the buggy shattered upon impact, and the car continued into the east ditch and came to rest in a field.
The 62 year old male operator of the horse drawn buggy, and his 61 year old female passenger, both residents of the township of Perth East, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the car, a 44 year old man from Hanover, was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
He has been charged with “careless driving” under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
OPP say the horse was euthanized at the scene due to the extensive injuries sustained.
Investigators say the road was dry and driving conditions were ‘ideal’ at the time of the crash.
