Essex County OPP are reporting that the body of a male swimmer who went missing off the southern tip of Pelee Island, near Fish Point, Lake Erie on Saturday afternoon has been located.
Members from the Pelee Island Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, the Essex County OPP Marine Unit, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center as well as the Canadian and United States Coast Guard were involved in the search.
Police stated that four young men reportedly went swimming together near Fish Point around 1:50 p.m. on Saturday when one male struggled and did not return to shore with the others.
The search for the swimmer was suspended Saturday evening due to unsafe weather conditions.
Authourities reported that the body of the swimmer was found near the shore.
Police have identified the deceased as 20-year-old Jered Greib from Chardon, Ohio.
