A head-on crash in Chatham involving an ambulance and a minivan has left one person with critical injuries and closed a section of the highway for several hours.
According to police, a northbound Ford minivan collided with a southbound Chatham-Kent EMS ambulance at around 10:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 40 near Green Valley Line.
Both vehicles were only occupied by the drivers; the driver of the minivan was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries while the driver of the ambulance suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators closed Highway 40 between Dover Centre Line and Bush Line for several hours before reopening it around 4 p.m. Friday.
OPP say more information will be released as the investigation unfolds.
