A severe thunderstorm watch has been lifted for London-Middlesex.
According to Environment Canada, conditions were favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that were capable of producing damaging winds and torrential rain but the risk of thunderstorms had subsided before 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada ahead of ‘significant rainfall’ has been lifted.
Still, the forecast is calling for about 15 to 25 mm of rain Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Ria Olsen tells AM980 this system should move out by Tuesday evening, but that might not be the last of the rain this week.
“There is a small chance for showers again during the afternoon on Wednesday, possibly into Wednesday night. Then we’re actually fairly sunny for the rest of the week and a gradual warming trend.”
The daytime high will climb to near 30 degrees on Thursday and Friday with the humidex still hovering in the mid-30 degree range.
