A wet weekend is on tap in London.
Late Friday afternoon, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the London region.
A “nearly stationary” line of severe thunderstorms through Watford to Strathroy and London to Brantford is capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel-sized hail, and heavy rain.
The warning follows a watch that was first issued around 1 p.m. Friday, dropped by 3:30 p.m., and then re-instated around 5:20 p.m. before being upgraded to a warning.
The AM980-Gerrie Electric Storm Centre is monitoring this system.
In addition to Friday’s severe thunderstorm warning, the forecast on Saturday calls for showers or thunderstorms into the early afternoon with a 40% chance of rain remaining later in the day and a high of 29.
