The RCMP is investigating after receiving “credible information” of a potential terrorist threat to Canada.
“A suspect was identified and the proper course of action has been taken to ensure that there is no danger to the public’s safety,“ RCMP said in a statement Wednesday.
It’s unclear if an arrest has been made.
More information will be released on the “national security threat” as it becomes available, the release said, and no further comment is available at this time.
“The safety and security of Canadians is of the utmost importance to the RCMP and we take all such threats seriously.”
The national law enforcement agency asks Canadians to stay alert and report suspicious or unusual behaviour to local police or the National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805.
