A St. Thomas woman suffered life threatening injuries after a near-drowning incident in Port Stanley.
Elgin County OPP say it was around 4:17 p.m. on Monday when they along with fire and EMS crews were dispatched to Little Beach to reports of a woman being pulled from the water.
When they arrived, investigators learned a 37-year-old woman was swimming in about two feet of water on the west side of the beach when she dove under and hit her head.
Officers say she lost consciousness and was pulled from the water.
The woman was treated and transported to hospital by Thames Emergency Medical Services with life-threatening injuries. OPP Cst. Liz Melvin told AM980 on Wednesday morning the woman was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday morning.
The woman’s name has not been released.
Officers say foul play is not suspected and the police portion of the investigation is closed.
