The London Police Service Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a deadly fire in east London.
London firefighters were called to Huron Tower Apartments at 630 Huron Street, just east of Adelaide Street at around 3:42 a.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, smoke was seen coming from a ground floor apartment. Fire crews had to force their way into an apartment where a victim was located near the door. Officials say the apartment was filled with heavy smoke.
A 60-year-old woman was found unresponsive. Fire fighters performed CPR until EMS arrived, but she was transported to hospital with vital signs absent.
The identity of the victim has not been released and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
There is no word on the cause of the fire. No other injuries were reported.
