Suspended drivers or those with expired plates have been served with a warning: Starting Friday, London Police will be more likely to find you.
The new Automatic Licence Plate Recognition System will be up and running will be able to scan two licence plates every second, and alert officers if the plates are on the Ministry of Transportation’s Hot List.
There are more than 10-million vehicles on that list province wide, for reasons such as expired stickers, suspended drivers, and plates that have been flagged as stolen.
The system includes two cameras, mounted on the roof of a police vehicle. They then automatically take photos of licence plates within 28 feet of the police vehicle.
