A massive 85-acre estate winery will hold its grand opening just outside of Grand Bend on Saturday.
Dark Horse Estate Winery, which is located on B Line just beside the Huron County Playhouse, will offer wine, food, and tours of the facility from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The sprawling facility features a tasting room, which will be open on Saturday, along with a VIP lounge and ballroom.
A local caterer will be on-hand to offer hors d’oeuvres to customers on Saturday. The Pink Flamingo in nearby Bayfield will also be at the winery to offer cupcakes.
“My father (John Rasenberg) had the parcel of land beside the Huron County Playhouse, and that’s when the idea started to evolve,” the winery’s Ashley Hodor told AM980, “‘Well, this a perfect place to situate a winery.’”
One of the more impressive features of the winery is the glass-topped 900-foot table, made of white oak sourced from St. Thomas.
Their wine collection can be found seen here.
“In the offseason when it’s not quite as busy, we should offer something in the area that involves events, so we decided to add the event space that can hold up to 300 people,” Hodor said.
The winery recently planted their own vines, hoping to make wine from their own product by 2018.
