Saugeen Shores Police said one of their own helped to bring a swimmer in distress back to shore on Tuesday.
Emergency crews were called just before 2:30p.m. Tuesday afternoon with reports of three siblings in trouble in the waters near Gobles Grove in Port Elgin.
According to Saugeen Shores Police, one of their officers who was off-duty, Constable Fletcher, saw the two teenage brothers and their 20-year-old sister and started to swim out to them with a flotation device.
As he made his way out, the brothers were able to swim in, but their sister was still struggling against the high waves and wind.
Constable Fletcher was able to help the woman back to shore and all three swimmers refused medical treatment.
