Mission Services of London will be holding a big party on Saturday celebrating the move to a new home.
After outgrowing the space on William Street, the thrift store will open its doors at 4-797 York Street at Rectory in the Western Fair District.
“The new location is on a bus route, it’s accessible and it’s a lot more retail square space,” says Communications manager Connie Spuria.
“We have ten departments and people that have gone to the old store and see the new store realize there’s quite a big difference. The floor space is 10,000 square feet and so that’s double what we had before.”
The centre has been serving the London area since 1951.
“We currently have five branches of service. We basically are here to help the community and help people feel valued and accepted.”
Saturday’s celebration begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs all day while the store itself opening at 9:30 a.m.
“When people come in the store we will have coupons for them to be used that day, Saturday, July 23rd and also to be used as a bounce-back. We will have face-painting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have free sandwiches around the noon hour and some coffee and Timbits throughout the day as well.”
Scuria adds that with a hot day on tap, they’ll be ready with plenty of water as well.
