After more than a week of endless tears and heartbreak, family and friends of a Calgary mother and her little girl will try to say a final good-bye.
A celebration of life will be held for Sara Baillie and her daughter Taliyah Marsman Thursday afternoon in Calgary.
Baillie was found dead inside her northwest Calgary home July 11, sparking an Alberta-wide Amber Alert that ended in tragedy.
It’s believed Baillie’s daughter, Taliyah, was killed just hours after Baillie.
The five-year-old’s body was found just outside the Calgary city limits Thursday night.
Edward Downey, 46, remains in custody accused of two counts of first-degree-murder in the case.
“I don’t wish this on anybody,” Sara Baillie’s uncle Scott Hamilton told Global News.
Family members are leaning on each other, sharing fond memories of the mother and daughter pair they loved so dearly.
“As soon as she (Taliyah) heard any sound of Sara’s car, like the sound of her horn going off when she was locking it, she would run on the couch, grab a blanket and hide,” Hamilton said. “This was their routine, they played hide and seek. And no matter how many times Taliyah played it- Sara played right along. So it was beautiful.”
The memorial services are being held at Centre Street Church at 2 p.m. MT.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Missing Children Society of Canada.
