London Police are reminding residents to keep their doors and windows locked following a rash of overnight break and enters at off-campus student homes near Fanshawe College over the last two weeks.
According to investigators, seven break and enters have occurred at homes in the area of Fleming Drive and Thurman Circle in a period of time spanning July 8 to July 17.
All incidents occurred on the weekends, sometime between Friday night and Sunday morning, and saw entry made through unlocked windows at the side and rear of the homes between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., police said.
Items reported stolen include watches, Canadian cash, and small electronics.
“Citizens are encouraged to be vigilant for suspicious persons approaching homes in their neighbourhood, (especially at the side and rear of homes), and to lock their doors and windows at all times,” said police in a media release on Thursday.
According to police, The Crime Analysis Unit detected the string of break and enters using analytical mapping software.
