Calgary police issued an Amber Alert for a five-year-old girl early Tuesday morning after she was believed to have been abducted from the city’s northwest, where her mother was found dead.
Police said Taliyah Leigh Marsman is believed to have been abducted by an unknown person from the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard N.W. That’s where police were called to around 8:30 p.m. Monday when the child’s 30-year-old mother was found dead in a home.
Marsman is described as having a slim build, brown curly hair and brown eyes. Police said as of 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, her whereabouts remained unknown.
Police had been looking for a vehicle of interest in connection with the case which they described as a white, four-door, 2016 Ford Fusion.
Police said the vehicle they were looking for had been found but they had not been able to locate the girl.
The Amber Alert was issued shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police said they are also speaking with witnesses and persons of interest in relation to this incident. The suspicious death also remains under investigation.
