Fire officials in Perth County say the risk of wildfire is extreme and as a result, all open air fires are banned until further notice.
That includes bonfires, campfires, and outdoor fireplaces; the only exceptions are cooking fires and that’s only at approved campgrounds and between the hours of noon and midnight.
Officials say a lack of rainfall has vegetation extremely dry and that fires can get out of control very quickly in these conditions.
Farmers are urged to be extra cautious during the grain harvest as fires can quickly overtake equipment and spread.
Burn permits have also been suspended and no new permits will be issued until further notice.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact their local fire department.
