A donation of life saving equipment from London firefighters will go a long way towards making countries a lot more safe.
Decommissioned equipment from the London Fire Department will be sent to emergency workers in developing countries for extra assistance.
Global Fire, a charity that helps firefighters and paramedics in the developing world, packed over 450 items from the London fire station Tuesday afternoon including breathing air tanks, back-frames, and masks.
The items will be shipped worldwide to countries in need, accompanied by training courses to teach emergency workers how to properly use the equipment.
Global Fire says London’s donation is the largest they’ve ever received.
The initiative comes after City Councillor Virgina Ridley brought forward a motion last December to donate rather than toss any decommissioned equipment from the fire station.
Council approved the request unanimously in January.
