London Police say they’ve made an arrest in an assault case that made national headlines.
Officers say they’ve charged a 38-year-old London woman in connection with Monday’s alleged attack on a woman at the Superking Supermarket at 785 Wonderland Rd. South.
Investigators say it was around 5 p.m. in the afternoon when a woman, who was with her four-month-old son, was approached by a female suspect she didn’t know. The victim was allegedly spat on and punched several times before the suspect is said to have grabbed the woman’s hijab and pulled her hair.
The suspect then fled the scene.
After appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect, officers said they made an arrest in the case around 10 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
London Police say as a result of their investigation, a 38-year-old London woman was charged with one count of assault. Her name has not been released by investigators.
Officers have said the incident is still under investigation and police are appealing to members of the public for more information. Investigators are specifically appealing to anyone who may have been in the Superking Supermarket at the time of the incident to come forward.
