London Police are looking for a suspect and are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was taken to hospital early Sunday for serious facial injuries sustained in an apparent random assault at a downtown pizza restaurant.
Investigators say the incident happened around 2 a.m. at the Little Caesars at Richmond St. and Central Ave. when an unidentified male began to repeatedly, and without provocation, punch another male in the face.
Customers intervened in the situation, and the suspect fled from the scene in an unknown direction, police said.
As a result of the incident, police say the victim, who was standing in line to order food when the assault occurred, had to undergo emergency surgery in hospital for serious facial injuries.
Police are on the lookout for the suspect in the assault, described as a tanned male in his early-to-mid 20s, 5-foot-9, with an athletic build. Police say the suspect had shaved hair on the sides, a short mohawk, and was wearing a black v-neck t-shirt with gold letting on it.
“There were a number of people in the restaurant at the time of the assault and police are hoping that witnesses will come forward in relation to this matter,” said police in a media release.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact London Police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
