London’s Labatt Park will be awash in purple when the London Majors take on the Burlington Bandits Friday night.
The showdown between the two teams marks the fifth annual Purple in the Park game in support of the London Abused Women’s Centre and shines a light on the agency’s efforts to end violence against women.
The Majors will be wearing purple jerseys which will later be autographed and auctioned off. Organizers of Friday’s event are also encouraging fans to deck themselves out in purple so support the cause.
Friday night’s game also serves as a fundraiser for LAWC.
“The London Majors are giving 50 per cent of our ticket sales back to us so all of that money goes directly toward frontline service,” LAWC’s Jen Dunn tells AM980. “What that means is any money donated or any money made from this event will directly help women in the London, Ontario community.”
Tickets are available through LAWC and are $9 for adults and $7 for children, students and seniors.
Gametime is set for 7:35 p.m. at Labatt Park.
