Windsor Police have placed an east-end neighbourhood on lockdown as they search for a suspect wanted for allegedly shooting a home in the city’s east end.
Officers believe an armed gunman wearing camouflage fired the shots early Wednesday morning and are asking residents who live in an area bordered by Riverside Drive East, Raymo Road, South National Street and Jos. Janisse Avenue to stay in their homes.
Two area schools within the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board have also been closed for the day as police work in the area and residents are asked to stay away from the area just south of the Detroit River. Caesars Windsor says it has not been impacted by the lockdown order.
The suspect officers are looking for in connection with the case is Richard Wallace. He’s described by investigators as white, 6’0″ tall and was last seen wearing camouflage and carrying a long gun. Wallace is said to be known to police and was known to the residents of the home at the centre of the incident.
A total of three men may have been involved in the incident with officers saying they’ve arrested two suspects already. They’ve also seized what they believe to be a stolen pick-up truck.
More information to come.
