A day after hundreds of Knights fans celebrated their beloved team’s championship run in Victoria Park, Memorial Cup merchandise has arrived in London.
London’s Source for Sports received its shipment of Memorial Cup t-shirts and hats on Tuesday.
“Literally the first probably 10 phone calls we got yesterday morning were from people wondering if we had the Memorial Cup hats and tees,” said Colin Hopper, President of Source for Sports.
If Knights fans want to buy some Memorial Cup gear they’re going to have to act fast. It’s first come first serve at Source for Sports and Hopper estimates they only have roughly 70 hats and t-shirts left in stock.
“We didn’t take any pre-orders because we weren’t exactly sure what time we were going to get them but since this morning I got to think we’re close to halfway sold through,” added Hopper.
Hopper credits the Hunter brothers with building the Knights into a perennial winner and believes the team has built a lasting connection with its fan base.
“Since the Hunters have taken over we’re just use to our team being in the hunt every year. I think it’s really got our community obviously hugely behind them but kids love anything to do with (the) Knights. They assume that the Knights are (in) the NHL.”
Adult t-shirts are on sale for $25.99, youth shirts cost $23.99 and the hats are selling for $29.99.
Memorial Cup Championship t-shirts and hats will arrive at the Aluminum Associates London Knights Armoury located at Budweiser Gardens on Wednesday.
“We’ve got quite a bit of stock,” said Carter Warwick, merchandise manager for the London Knights.
“We’ve got just under 600 caps and 288 t-shirts and we do have capabilities to get more if we do run out.”
