The Middlesex London Health Unit says an investigation into a restaurant at the heart of a complaint that went viral this week is now complete.
The investigation was launched after a London woman posted on Facebook, saying she found a used condom under the Sopranos East 241 Pizza boxes she had delivered to her home on Monday.
“Our pizza was delivered to us and arrived in a thermal transport bag,” Charlene Quirk wrote.
“Our order was opened at the dining room table and after dinner I noticed a used condom on the table where the boxes had been placed. Disgusted, I called the store to inform him that the condom must have originated from the interior of the store (because of the thermal bag – it couldn’t have been from the driver’s car).”
Quirk claims the person who answered the phone became hostile towards her and swore at her repeatedly.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Facebook post had been shared over 3,700 times. Soprano’s West Pizza has even had to post stressing that they are in no way affiliated with Soprano’s East after residents began tagging them when posting about the incident.
Manager of the Food Safety Program at the Health Unit, Dave Pavletic, tells AM980 an investigation into Soprano’s East was launched that same day, though he could not go into specific details.
“When we did receive the call we got out there the day of to do the investigation. Our health inspector did a thorough investigation of the food premise and so the investigation has been completed. The inspector did notify the person that had called the health unit. So, the process has been followed.”
The restaurant owner has denied all allegations against the establishment.
