More than 4,100 people have signed a petition to help save the historic Arva Flour Mill.
The mill, which is nearly 200 years old, had its operations restricted over two weeks ago after federal workplace inspectors found its century-old system and machinery a safety hazard to employees.
Since then, the mill’s owner, Mike Matthews, is the only individual allowed to run the business, which normally takes three people to operate.
The petition will be sent to Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Conservative MP Bev Shipley, a regular customer at the flour mill who has previously pledged his support to help save the business.
Matthews plans to appeal the government decision to require safety upgrades at a hearing on May 31st.
