A 67-year-old Goderich man, one of eight scuba divers on a diving expedition, has been identified as the deceased after being pulled to shore in the Tobermory area.
Bruce Peninsula OPP, the Canadian Coast Guard, Parks Canada, the Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department, and the Bruce County EMS were called to the Fathom Five National Marine Park in Northern Bruce Peninsula just after 10 o’clock Sunday morning to reports of a man in medical distress.
According to police, Peter Lane was one of eight scuba divers on a diving expedition to the Arabia off of Echo Island. The investigation found he showed no signs of distress when he entered the water, but was soon found in medical distress. Fellow divers helped him and the Canadian Coast Guard brought him to shore.
Attempts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful and a post-mortem found Lane died of natural causes.
