Oxford County OPP have laid an arson charge after a residential fire earlier this month.
Provincial police say they were called to a residence in Otterville Wednesday, May 4 after a passerby noticed smoke coming from the structure.
The Township of Norwich Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished the fire.
The homeowner was not home at the time and no injuries were reported.
Damage has been pegged at approximately $30,000 to $40,000 and the Ontario Fire Marshal was called to investigate.
As a result, police have arrested and charged 52-year-old Daniel Martin of Norwich Township with arson-damage to property.
Martin was released on a promise to appear and an officer in charge undertaking with a future court date.
