One of the stars of the upcoming London Airshow says as soon as he learned an airshow was returning to the city he was hoping to take part.
“I’m really looking forward to coming to the London Airshow,” says London-born Captain Ryan Kean.
“I was actually at the last London Airshow here when I attended university at UWO so it’s very exciting for me.”
The fighter pilot tells AM980 he’ll be flying his CF-18 in the show.
“It is specially painted this year to commemorate the British Commonwealth Training Plan and also celebrate the 75th anniversary of our 400-series squadrons that are in Cold Lake this year.”
Captain Kean says his love of flying was sparked when he was a child and his father and grandfather would fly remote control airplanes.
“That kind of got me on the steps and after going to one of my first shows in Kingston, Ontario and seeing the F18 fly I always wanted to be a fighter pilot and it was lucky enough for me that it worked out.”
For the 2016 season, from the end of April to mid-October, Captain Kean is at 35 show locations.
The event goes September 17th and 18th at the London International Airport and in addition to the CF-18 Demonstration Team will also feature the Snowbirds, the SkyHawks, the Virginia-based F-22 Raptor Demonstration and heritage Flight Team, among others.
