A pregnant woman is dead and her baby is in hospital in critical condition after being delivered by C-section following a shooting in Toronto late Sunday evening.
Police say the expectant mother arrived in hospital with a gunshot wound to her chest and was later pronounced dead around 2 a.m. on Monday.
An emergency C-section was performed and the baby remains in critical condition.
Police say the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Garland Boulevard and Jamestown Crescent in the city’s west-end.
There’s no word yet on any suspects and the homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
