Five London firefighters have responded to a call for assistance as wildfire relief efforts continue in Alberta.
They left over the weekend, and are situated in Edmonton to help residents displaced by the massive blaze in Fort McMurray.
They’ve teamed up with a group called GlobalFire, and are expected to be out west for the next week.
Officials say the five members utilized their own holiday time and fundraising to make this trip possible.
Meanwhile, the Alberta government has released an app that will allow residents to see their properties from afar.
The app is said to provide a high-level satellite overview of the city.
Those looking to use the app have been warned that structures still standing may be damaged, and viewing the images could be traumatic.
Fort McMurray’s 80-thousand evacuees will get an update on the situation with another telephone town hall Monday night.
Residents will have 90 minutes to ask questions about the blaze, the condition of their neighbourhoods, financial aid and when they might be allowed to return.
