A London man is pleading for the person who stole his phone — containing hundreds of pictures of his six-year-old son who is currently battling brain cancer — to return it.
Dan Lake says his truck was broken into last night in south London in the area of Pond View Rd. and Glenroy Rd.
Lake says the only thing that was stolen was an old mobile phone.
“Ironically, I did clean out the truck last night, but one thing I had left in there was an old phone that I had recently upgraded,” said Lake. “The disheartening part of it is that phone contained a lot of pictures and videos of our family. Specifically of my six-year-old son who is currently going through a battle with brain cancer.”
Lake says the phone is worthless to whoever stole it: the screen is cracked, it doesn’t charge very well, and is not activated.
However, it’s filled with hundreds of pictures and videos of his son’s fight against cancer, and the progress he’s made over the past five months.
“He went through a huge battle where we had removal a tumour which caused left side paralysis on his body. We had about a two month battle of trying to get him walking again and all that kind of stuff,” he said. “All of that stuff is documented on the phone and I can’t replace that.”
“To meet him, you would be inspired. He’s a very tough young man, a tough young boy. He never really complains. He’s always showing his strength and that’s one of the reasons why we named his Facebook page ‘Giving Brayden Strength.’ He’s an inspiration, for sure.”
Lake says he has contacted police and is hopeful that anyone with information about the stolen phone comes forward.
