Emergency crews remain on the scene of a crash involving a transport truck on Highway 401, west of London Wednesday morning.
Elgin County OPP responded to a single vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 401 between Union Road and Colonel Talbot Road at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they were met with a transport truck that was on its side against the guard rail.
Upon investigation, it was determined the truck lost control and rolled into the median, demolishing the vehicle and guard rail, resulting in heavy debris and a fuel spill.
Police say the driver of the transport truck was transporting to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There is no word on what caused the driver to lose control.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours Wednesday morning as the transport truck was pulled off the median. It has since been re-opened, but will remain down to one right lane for the next two days as crews work to clean the fuel spill and replace the guard rail.
Police say charges are pending.
