One person suffered minor injures, while a pet dog died following an apartment fire in east London Sunday.
London firefighters, police, and EMS responded to a mutli-unit residence at 785 Nelson Street, west of Rectory Street at around 7:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the windows of the two-storey structure.
Fire crews used a ladder to rescue one man from the roof of the building. He was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital.
Fire officials say the blaze originated in a rear main floor unit, but the cause remains under investigation.
A pet dog in the unit succumbed to the blaze.
Total damage is estimated to be at least $175,000.
