Snuggle therapy has been gaining in popularity in the UK and North America, and now it’s available in the Forest City.
London Snuggle Therapy has launched in Old South, with rates starting at $80 an hour.
“We live in a culture that is very touch deprived,” says founder Dan Oudshoorn.
“We tend to know physical touch through violence or in a sexual context, but we’re often missing it in an affectionate, friendly, gentle way.”
Oudshoorn notes that some people have a negative reaction to the idea of snuggle therapy, but he says studies confirm the benefits.
“Snuggling helps us to feel safe, it helps us to feel relaxed. It boosts the happy chemicals in our brains, the chemicals that make us feel good. It aids in our sleeping, it can help with anxiety and depression, it can help with managing pain, and it can help with feeling connected to a community of people.”
Before the snuggling, clients and snugglers would meet for a consultation to decide if they are a good match. Then you can head to London Snuggle Therapy in Old South to cuddle on a bed, couch, or carpeted floor.
