Nearly forty years after a series of sexual assaults against two teenage boys, a former Scout leader has been charged.
Martin Cretier, 71, of North Huron, has been charged by Huron County OPP with four counts of indecent assault and four accounts of gross indecency based on events that occurred in the summers of 1976 and 1978.
The alleged victims were teenage boys at the time, known to the accused through Scouting activities.
Cretier was a volunteer Scout leader with the Wingham Scout Troop at the time of the assaults. The charges are based on the 1977 version of the Criminal Code.
Cretier was arrested Wednesday and has been released from custody pending an October 15 court appearance in Wingham.
Huron County OPP officers are appealing to anyone in the general public with information to come forward by contacting police or Crime Stoppers.
