Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is the latest politician to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money and awareness for Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The mayor was nominated to take the challenge by former Toronto Maple Leaf Tie Domi.
Ford’s brother and Toronto City Councillor Doug Ford, along with Domi dumped the bucket of ice water on the mayor in a video posted to YouTube Saturday.
As apart of the campaign, someone who completes the challenge gets the chance to nominate three other people to either dump a bucket of ice water on their head, or donate $100 to ALS research.
After taking the challenge, Ford nominated late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neuromuscular disease in which nerve cells die and leave voluntary muscles paralysed. Between two and three people die from the crippling disease every day in Canada. Currently, there is no cure.
